...to get the broken bolt used in the belt tensioner out? Will I be pulling the power steering pump and pretty much the entire driver side accessory bracket assembly out to get to it? Can I get the p/s pump out of the way without disconnecting the lines? All this because I wanted to replace the noisy idler pulley!

I can remove the power steering pump and set it aside w/o unhooking the lines on my '93 Laredo.. Your year/model/mileage may vary

Easy, you dont have to deal with the lines or steering fluid, just set the pump off to the side. Ive done 99+ pumps on older XJ's and its basically all the same. Just pull the aux fan and maybe the intake box to give your self room.

Thanks for the info. I neglected to mention it's in a '93 Cherokee Sport with the 4.0 HO. How hard/involved is getting the p/s pump mounting bracket-tensioner assembly out of there so I can get to the rest of the bolt?

It was a little bit of a pain on my '93 Laredo 4.0 (not HO) If I remember right, the bolt heads were different sizes, air box removal was necessary, it was still a little cramped in there, but pretty much an easy project. Course I didn't need to dig up a new bolt for it

I saw some pics a couple days ago on here but now I can't find 'em.. I found these tho..

That's the layout on mine. Hopefully I can find a bolt or possibly the entire bracket in my local pullapart, otherwise I'll be calling my local Jeep dealer...btw does the pulley need to be removed before the pump will come out?

That's mine too (fig 9) Is 'd' the bolt that broke? If it is, you might be able to grab it where it sits.. it's a pretty long bolt. Mine was stuck pretty good, but after a couple shots of liquid wrench I could finger turn it. (I know you really want to take the pump off, but if you could stick a fuel hose or somethin' on it tight it might spin out far enough to get pliers on it)

No, I'd rather not have to take the pump off but from what I saw I'm thinking it's going to have to so I can get to the remainder of the bolt.

Job done! Made a trip to Pullapart for the bolt and the small block it threads into for the princely sum of .62 cents. Also scored an air filter lid that had the breather fitting still intact bringing my total to $5. Lucky I did this when I did as the idler pulley (which was the reason all this began) started coming apart a few miles from home. End result is a fixed Jeep back to being dependable again, actually didn't need to remove the p/s pump. Thanks for the help folks.
