Been tracking down a steering problem, went to grease the nipples hehe then found that the boot or bushing or whatever it is at the end of the drag link where it connects to the pitman arm is split wide open allowing any grease I try and add to squirt right out.
I plan on replacing all these rubber things as soon as possible but we don't have the cash at the time to do it now. How bad is this though? Is the drag link going to break off on the highway and kill everyone? Or, will it likely hold together for a couple more weeks?

Also, I'm having a helluva time trying to find replacements for all these rubber boots and bushings. The descriptions of the parts leave me confused and the only diagram I can find at a store, jeep4x4center, doesn't look like mine. There seem to be only two bars shown when mine has three.
Does anyone have a list of what these parts are all called (the ends and/or bushings) and maybe they're alternate names too?
I see it's called a center link or a drag link depending on which store I check. Crazy, it's like how they name streets around here.

Well, messing with a steering box can be a little dicy. Some say it's best done on the bench. Even with actually 40 years of wrenching experience I about messed up. (I almost ruined it).
