Recently found hose coming out of the top of my diff of my Dana 30 on my '96 XJ hanging and dragging but still attached to the diff. Where does it go or connect to and is it just a vent as I was told?
Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Yes, it is just a vent. It comes from somewhere up in the engine bay where it is elevated.
Stick it back up on the drivers side somewhere and use a zip tie to hold it in place without pinching the line.

if that line has been disconnected and you drove that truck through any kind of muddy water where the water would reach the point of where that tube connects to your axle you might want to check your fluids because that hose will allow muddy water inside of your axle and contaminate your lubricant
