horrible steering noise. please help!
Alright so. 3 months ago I did the Durango gearbox swap and a iro lower HD tie rod. Once it started to get wwarmer out I got those horrible creeking nnoise coming from my steering. Almost sounds like it's coming from by my gearbox. The noise mainly starts after I drive it for a couple min. Like something's getting warm. so then I put a new drag link and all new tie rod ends on last week. And the noise is still there. I also got a allignment. I'm kinda thinking my gearbox is going but I have no idea. Help! Oh and my ball joints are good.

and my track bar is tight. It's the iro HD double sheer. My thoughts right now are to just change my gearbox. I have a lifetime warranty so it's not a big deal. Just don't feel like going through the pain or changing it.

Uni-Frame?
One possibility is cracks around the part of the uni-frame where the gearbox mounts. This is common in our XJ's and a real possibility with a beefier gearbox. The cracks may be visible around the holes where the box mounts.

I was just thinking the same thing. Either Friday or Sunday I'm gonna swap the gearbox and I'm gonna order a steering box brace.

I really don't understand tthis. It only creeks when it's warm outside. If it's Cold then it's fine like today.

Hmmmm......
That's the oppposite of me. I creak when its cold outside, or when I first get up in the morning. After I move around some and warm up, the creaking goes away.
Metal expands as it warms, and this may be causing the metal to metal contact needed for the cracked area to start making noise.
