Default horrable squealing

i have a problem and i am a newbe with mechanics period. so i got something easy and cheap to work on and im learning alot so far. i resently changed my waterpump a day ago and added coolant i dont think it was 50/50. but back to the problem. when i changed it, i drove up from our shop garage and it was great but was running alittle high temp. so today i added more coolant. and it was making a small squealing noise from the belt, i checked all pullys and none were bad, i noticed the belt looking dry as dirt in a desert so i put some belt dressing on and it stoped for a minute then went right back. my thought about it was that mabey i should of added some water because the coolant could be to thick and the water pump pulling is having trouble turning from it and the pully is not turning as fast as the belt is so its rubing and causing the noise. could that be it HELLLPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i need this jeep for my lady friends and school

Try tightening up the belt a little more. On the Jeeps the belts have to pretty darn tight to keep from squealing.

Dressing doesn't help the serpentine belts, you need to replace it if it's looking bad.
As mentioned, it likes to be adjusted tight.

Since you aren't sure of your antifreeze strength, have it checked if you live where it gets anywhere near freezing.

Loosen/remove the belt and check all your pulleys. Pay particular attention to the alternator and in your case the water pump. If any are tight turning, then there's your problem.

The first thing you need to do is get rid of that belt. Once you sprayed it with belt dressing crap you compromise the integrity of it. That spray is not made for serpentine belts. The good thing is you said the belt look dry anyways. Replace the belt and make sure that it is nice and tight. They do have to be incredibly tight. In about a a week or two you may have to re-tighten it once it breaks in.

Scenario.

In changing water pump, coolant got on belt. Caused squeak, along with belt being loose. Added belt dressing and only got worse.

YES! And clean all your pulleys with carb cleaner or something while the belts off to get rid of the dressing before installing the new belt.

Just remember that you may have to readjust it in about a week or two after the belt settles in.

Tighten it until you can only twist it between 30 and 45 degrees. This is what I do for mine, and have never had any belt squeal.
