Default Nice job to everyone with vents

Mine has 1" spacers on the hinges.
Here is a couple pictures of it one of it proving no harm no foul.

Edit: Ps. Have picture of Snow on whole jeep started right up. Although i realize not mountain snow but enough to tell it wont mess it up.

I am sure you could find some but I really liked the vents I bought and they are molded and not closable. If switching the hood gets to be a pain I will fab up something to attach to the underside to block during the winter. Hood is only 4 bolt so I am not too concerned with having to swap.

Only bad thing about the 1" spacer is I have read a few places that this causes a pretty serious safety issue. From what I read some emergency workers have seen similar mods get in a front end wreak and the hood got pushed threw the windshield because it was not in line with the metal behind it to help stop it. I have no personal experience - just pointing it out..

Good point I never even thought about that at all although with my 91 i think i will be ok. i also intend on installing a after market bumper so if i do get into a front end acident i hope everything will turn out alright.

I am a former firefighter and I can tell you bumper or no bumper, hood spacers are just a bad idea. Yes they work and cost less than a buck, but very dangerous in an accident.

I put some on my 89 and its made a big difference in cooling. Engine runs much cooler and the engine compartment as a whole is cooler.

I never liked hood spacers. Threw off the lines of the jeep and makes it look like it was in a front end accident.

I can't think of a way to fab that would not leave the safety issue since no matter what you do your up into the line of the windshield. The cowl would be the way to go but a lot of work. I have seen a post of someone who made their own cowl and it looked pretty good I am not sure if that was here or on cherokeetalk.

Hi everyone, first post on here.

My cherokee (Orvis edition) comes with factory fitted hood vents as standard.

do they not make a cowl induction hood or something like that so it looks smooth and nice. not like something that was pop riveted on?

sorry guys, this is one mod that is just bad looking. there has to be some other way to drop under hood temps then this.

also, to the guy with the vents backward, the reason that the vents point towards the windshield is because the air traveling over the hood is pulling the heat out. the air pressure under the hood is not pushing the heat out. the reason the temps drop while sitting still is because at that point, the heat rising has an escape point. but while moving, the vents are used to pull air out through, almost like a venturi
captain downer here representing the one in three hundred thousand minority.
how is a cooler engine not a useful mod? haha
