Homebrew Swaybar Quick Disconnects
As promised here are a couple of pictures of my Homebrew Front Sway Bar Quick Disconnects. Items needed for this modification are as follows:
1.) 3" bolt x 2 of same size and thread pitch as your OEM Sway Bar link
2.) Coupling Nut x 2 of same size and thread pitch as your OEM links.
The 3" long bolt I used works for a 4.5-6.5" lift. You'll need to go shorter or longer depending on your lift.
Remove the nut, bushings and washers from the top of your OEM Sway Bar Link. Take the 3" bolt and slide the top washer and bushing onto it. Stick the bolt through the hole on the end of your Sway Bar. Slide the bottom bushing and washer on, then screw the OEM nut onto the bottom of the bolt, tighten to personal preference. Then do this to the other side. These will be your new Sway bar upper end links. Now you simply take the coupling nuts and thread them evenly onto the bolts and to your OEM sway bar links, connecting them together. When I remove the links for 4wheeling, I remove the nut and bolt holding the OEM sway bar link to the axle then, I unscrew the coupling nut from the upper bolt, turning the coupling nut and lower link as one piece and removing it. Remove the other side and push the sway bar up and out of the way and you're ready to go wheeling. It takes me about 2-3 minutes to do this.
