What schedule is htat pipe? I made a collapsable flag poll that I made out of 1" schedule 80 that I lash to the back of my motorcycle when I go on PGR missions. It is great because I've ridden with it up to 80 mph and never once did I feel it was compromised (in gusty winds too. Of course the flag turns into a rudder at that speed with gusts so there are other issues to contend with). That being said though, if you built it right and affixed it to your XJ well, I see no reason that it wouldn't function quite well.

Well done. Now that is some budget engineering!

Maybe a gloss finish on there? Make people think it's metal?
Good job though, I'm finding some on CL that run about $75. I'll look more into getting one of those next paycheck.

What are you finding at $75? I couldn't find any aftermarket racks for less than $250 near me...then again I'm in Los Angeles and everything's high priced

I like the flat black because I don't want to pose with it, but just to make it aesthetically pleasing. Which I feel it is now. Thanks!

lucky bum. I'd have done that route if it was an aftermarket rack in CA near me. Too bad most people don't wheel in LA lol

nice, just make sure you attach it to your roof to test it and make sure it fits before you fork over the dough. nice find.
