Higher wattage headlight
I've got some driving lights that take a H4 bulb, standard 55 watt. I'd like to upgrade them and use a brighter bulb,..75 watt or so. (If I can find some). My question(s):
Would this cause an overload on the wiring and do damage?
Could it be harmful to the stock plastic styled cover? (Like what is standard in most vehicle headlamp assemblies today)
I want to try and use the bases I have now because of mounting and style.

Buy it and install it. You'll be happy. And you can run up to a 100w bulb without issue
Edit: This thing is completely plug and play, extremely easy to install (took me about 45 minutes REALLY taking my time), and will turn out to be the best ~$45 you will put in your Jeep

And here's some instructions on how to install it in under 45 minutes. You need to beat 1996sportxj's time. LOL.
Cruiser’s Headlight Upgrade Harness Instructions
Absolutely plug and play. Remove grille and headlamp bulbs. I fed my harnesses from the passenger side starting between the battery and the back of the headlamp housing, over to the driver side. Plug the driver side bulb into the new harness. Attach the new harness's ground wire under one of the small bolts on the radiator support after scraping the paint off under it. Attach the harness to the existing harness behind the grille working toward the passenger side. . Plug the new harness plug into passenger headlamp. Plug original headlamp plug into receptacle on new harness. Attach the ground for the passenger side just like you did the driver side under a radiator support bolt. Attach relays with provided bracket on the passenger side inner fender. Connect power wires to battery.

So, I don't need to get new bulbs,....it's just a matter of power getting to the bulb. Am I understanding that right?

Haha yeah you need to beat my time. You shouldnt have a problem doing that either I just caught a few snags that easily coulda been avoided and saved about 20 minutes.
And yes, you'll see a HUGE improvement in the bulbs you have now with that harness. After you get the harness in, then you should decide if you want higher wattage bulbs

This is one of the best upgrades you can do. It's cheap, easy, adds some safety to night driving and keeps your headlight switch from konking out on you at the most inopportune time---like at night.
