I know threads old but others will have same issue. Manifold no seated hung up on dowel pins look from underneath....

I put small wire ties on all vacuum connections.

I agree take off each vacuum line and plug both sides and try and start. If goes to 6000, replace, zip tie and try another vacuum line.

Don't forget the rubber elbow connecting the MAP sensor, they often are cracked.

My money is on the intake manifold leaking from when he installed new head and intake.
