Last week I did an oil change on my XJ. And these last few days i've noticed my oil pressure has been a little different. At idle it sits at just about half the gauge, sometimes 1/4, on the highway the gauge is about 90% pinned. Which is aprox 70 psi?
Any ideas?

Clean the sending unit. If that doesn't work, borrow or rent a manual guage and verify.
Until then, what year is your rig, and what weight oil did you use? Didja use any oil additives?
If you can't be good, be good at it!

Cheap to do. If that's it tell em it was defective and demand a refund lol. That pressure is insanely high even at start up if you were revvin it for 5-30.

Most likely related to the sending unit itself. This is one part that I buy directly from the dealer for best reliability/accuracy/mating with your factory gauge. Aftermarket sending units are hit and miss.
And I'm not a big fan of the low end Fram filters. And that is coming from someone who worked in Test Engineering for 22 years for Honeywell, the parent company of Fram. To be fair, the high end Frams are okay.
I use Purolator Pure One. A great filter with excellent filter media and solid construction. Not that much more money than an el-cheapo.

The fact that it happened right after an oil change is fishy to me. That is the variable I see. I want to name the filter anyway cause those things are cardboard pieces of crap.

I changed the filter to a WIX, and changed the sending unit at the same time. Which part fixed it, I dont know/dont care. But its all working perfect now!
