Default High Idling 98 4.0

I just fixed my '98's rear axle and swapped a JY door on. Me and a couple buddies went and bombed some puddles. When I got home I had a high (~1800RPM) idle. It now does this when started.

Just looking for any ideas or common issues before I get into it due to time constraints.

Thanks

The throttle position sensor hates water.

It would be a primary suspect considering that you were just puddle jumping prior to this symptom.

I finally got a chance to mess with the jeep and the high idle is gone now, so I'm assuming it was a wet TPS. Still have a CEL tho

There is only one strategy with a check engine light. That is to read the codes.

For a 2000, you will need either a scan tool or a code reader, or you can bring your XJ to a parts store like Autozone where they will read the codes for free.

When you get the codes, post the EXACT code numbers here. Not just a description. With OBD codes, the devil is really in the details.
