Mounted mine on the front bumper for when on the trail. When not out wheeling it stays in the garage out of the elements.

And when the hi-lift is in the garage, the mounting bolts are great for skewering deer to take home for dinner.

Mounting them on the front bumper wouldnt work for me.. especially since sometimes I have to bump the rock with my front bumper to get my tires up on the onstacles.

Yep I have already bumped objects and bent it twice. When I build the new front bumper the hi lift will get a new mounting spot inside.

I plan on mounting mine on the side of the basket too.. year around. 2 types of anti-corrosion I have run across are white lithium grease and mineral oil. The lithium for the moving parts and the oil for the rest. Pressure wash and re-lube.. it should be fine. Although, from what I have read on this thread, I might leave it home if it starts to get gunked up.

mine has been on my rack and in the elements for close to 3 years. needed to use it today. first time in a really long time. it worked just fine with a couple sqirts of wd40. i dont keep it on the rack cuz it looks cool. mines a 60" one. not gunna fit inside.

I always keep wd40 in my trail kit.... works great to get water out of the dirtributor, so having it handy is not an issue.

Hilift makes a hard plastic case, as well as a neoprene boot. If I was really worried about it sticking I would do that.
