Default Hesitation/popping through intake

Hello there I have a 2.5 4cyl xj manual and for some time now have had a problem with the xj. When driving it will hesitate and start bucking and you get a popping noise through the intake. It seems to do this at the same points through the rev range and also will do it when trying to pull away. Some times you can drive it and this will not happen at all then other times its virtually undriveable.

Up to now I have changed map sensor, crank shaft sensor, throttle position sensor. Plugs leads distributor and rotor have all been changed and also the coil. Now starting to scratch my head as to what it could be so though I would ask on here to see if any one could help.

This is my first xj and love it despite this problem, would just like to get to the bottom of this. Thanks for any ideas or suggestions Rob

How old is your air filter? Sounds kind of juvenile but maybe you're getting dirt or other contamination through your intake.

Check the fuel pump. Mine did the same thing, only 20 psi pulled the pump and the pickup tube had come loose.

sounds like it's starving for fuel at certain RPM's...I used to have a Mustang 5.0 that did the same thing. Just my .02
