Default Herculine-ing both sides of floor pans?

Found this little gem while taking my seat off today:

Clearly it needs to be replaced, not just fixed with sheet metal welded on. I am going to buy floor pans this pay check. To make sure this doesnt happen again, I want to Herculine both sides. I know someone has done this before, but if i sand the **** outta the pans and Herculine it, will that be enough to rust-proof it?

I heard Por-15 works good. I know if you don't do bed liner right it won't work

Yea, I heard POR15 is good also, but i get 20% off from work on Herculiner, so thats the reason I was going to get that.

POR-15 doesn't work that well on clean, rust-free metal. It really needs a bit of rust to grab on to. I'd spray the raw metal with cold galvanizing spray, then hit it with the bedliner.

How well does that cold galvanizing spray work? thats what i have been planning for quite some time now. I figured as long as it contained at least 90% zinc it wouldnt vary much brand to brand right? anything else i should know about it like a good brand name or needed prep? because its been sounding clever

If you are buying new pans then just take a wire wheel on a grinder to it till the most of it is gone then spray it with rustoleum. That will stop or slow it untill you can get a proper fix. You can also use a wire brush. Also ive never of leaving the rust as a prep for anything to stick to. Even por. Id look into it before you use rust rather than fresh roughed up metal surface to coat or spray lol.

If you stop that water leak you can really slow down the rust problem.
