Default Dead battery help!

I already tried searching using google with no such luck.

I have been driving my 89 Jeep Cherokee for a few months now with no issues. Parked it and everything was normal. Go to start it about a week later and the battery is dead. I tried to give myself a jump today and it was so dead it wouldn't even take a jump. Barely turned over the motor. What concerns me is I heard this low pitch whining sound coming from behind my passenger side fender. Almost like a little electric motor. It kept going the whole time the jumper cables were hooked up while the key was turned into acc position and of courses subsided when I took off the jumper cables.

I am lost on this one. I will probably replace the battery and see where that gets me. I have no idea how old it is. My only question is does anybody have an idea on this whining behind the fender?

I haven't done the power door lock mod and do have problems with them. My power windows work fine in the front, slow as hell in the back.

I would start by charging the battery overnight and then having it tested at a parts store.

I wanna say that sound you're hearing is the fuel pump, but that wouldn't come on in ACC.

I would say you got a short somewhere, or the batt is totaly shot. Happened to my Motorcycle a while ago, let it sit for 2 weeks and the brand new batt wouldn't even try to hold a charge.

The sound is coming from the front of the passenger door/back of the fender. I don't have a power antenna and I should have said so because I knew someone would mention it. I also thought blower for the heater or AC and I shut it off. The sound persisted.

The only way I will be able to figure it out is with power. This weekend I will do work and report back in case anyone else ever has this problem.

Did you stick your head inside the Jeep and see if it was the computer frying under the glovebox area?

Send the battery to the auto parts store and have it tested. If its good see if you can have a trickle charge put on the battery overnight to get a good deep charge into it. After that put it back in and start a search party to locate exactly where the noise is coming from. Might be an easy way to go about it by pulling relays, and or fuses for certain items. You can tell what they are by a layout drawn on the fuse cover. Or you could just get up under you dash and try to search for it by ear.

Battery is good. I found something interesting in my fender. I have no idea what it is.

Here's my best use of imagery-

It looks like there is a black canister (container/reservoir?) on the bottom. It has a long stem protruding from the top of the canister. The stem is about an inch in diameter and about 10 inches long. It has a hose that goes from the canister to the tube. This whole assembly seems to be unsecured in the fender so I am not sure if it fell.

I have to stress again, I have a regular antenna on the Jeep now. Perhaps it came with one from the factory and it has just been sitting in the fender?

If you're ever in Minot, ND. PM me. I have guns, beer, and food on standby.

I don't have a power antenna, but im convinced that's what this thing has to be. I don't know why it randomly turned on. I am going to go buy some Torx heads and take off the fender to take it out. Ohh the joys of working with limited tools in a my apartment parking lot. I am also swapping on a new master cylinder to my Kawi Z1000 today.

Kaw easier to work on.

You don't have to take off the whole fender. Remove RF wheel, fender flare nuts, and inner fender liner and you will be able to get to the antenna cannister.
