Even if I just pull over turn off and restart the motor. It will only stay engaged for about 15seconds tho.
Don can turn the light off you've done an excellent job troubleshooting this.
That isn't enough time for the solenoid to cool off and clear a short, nor would a wiring harness fix itself upon re-start,and the TCU is all that's left that can throw that code. I agree with swapping it out, probably has a solenoid driver that's OK with a DVM check but shorting under load.
Sometimes that happens when something downstream pulls too much current, give the wiring harness a good shake while checking again for shorts. Just in case..

Well yesterday I replaced the computer and took the jeep for a test drive. Same thing happened TCC kick off. I had some other work to do on a friends car so I left it and ordered a set of solenoids. Figured thats probably the problem. Well when I went to work this morning the jeep had no shifting issues, and on the way home same thing no more shifting issues. Hopefully it will be good now. So now I have a set of solenoids on order that I probably don't need. But hey they might come in handy one day.

TCM next to the gas pedal. ECM is in the engine bay.

....I'm normally dealing with 87-90 Renix. Our TCU (Transition Control Unit), is on the right and the ECU (Electronic Control Unit), is on the left. We don't even have a PCM. (Power-train Control Module)

Update: The computer didn't solve the problem. It shifted perfectly fine for like 3 days then after that the TCC solenoid would only work when it felt like. Since I purchased the trans solenoids I decided to put them in. I replaced all 3 and it seems to be shifting great now. One thing I noticed was the old TCC solenoid looked different then the 2 shift solenoids. The set I had the looked exactly the same except for the mounting bracket. So I'm guessing this might have been an issue before I purchased the jeep which would make sense why it failed again. I purchased the jeep from my job and I know they use the absolute cheapest parts they can find. So Im hoping my problem is trans problems are over.
