help with tcase drop

Default help with tcase drop

i got my kit in the mail and i am looking at the write ups and i guess i just don't understand. are there nuts inside the frame rail? or are the frame rails tapped?

I think there are welded in nuts inside the uniframe.
One bolt and one stud each side on mine. Stud(s) came out after grinding down two sides to get a vise grip to grab them.

2 weld nuts and 2 studs on each side.What worked best for me was a pipe wrench for the studs.Also PB Blaster and MAP gas will help.

so if i pull the studs out. what the heck am i gonna thread the new bolts into?

Use vice grips on the stud, and lots of pb blaster. The kit should come with new bolts to put back in.

but all four holes are threaded? once i get the old studs out and bolts out i can just screw in the new bolts that came with the kit?

Not trying to thread jack, but what happens with the T case linkage when dropping the tcase down?

Yes, all 4 holes are threaded. Yup, just turn in new bolts, no studs anymore.

I did nothing with the linkage when doing a 1" drop. Still works fine. I have heard some reports of adjustment being necessary.

when i did mine just recently the weld nuts were stripped out on my jeep so we had to pop the plugs in the floor (my xj has no interior)
it takes some fancy tool dancing to get the nuts to thread on but that is an option

It gets all jacked up. haha. But can be some what adjusted.
