My girls 02 grand cherokee just had a buncha work done to it new headlights power steering lines coolant leak new spark plugs, i think some other stuff too. But lately she told me shes been stallin out at stop lights. and just a day or two later she stalled out while driving through the neighborhood. So i really started lookin into it. Im a Ford diesel guy so i like workin on my stuff but i dont know her jeep. So i took it up to advanced to scan it and i got Camshaft position sensor code and two Evap system codes Big and Small. So i put a new camshaft sensor in and it fired up and ran for a day.. then she told me it stalled out again! Im thinkin its the dang fuel filter! It cranks and cranks but no start. Would Evap system leak cause this NO START condition?? Someone please help! thanks

It would be more helpful if you gave a little more info. Like engine size, What exactly did it do when stalling out. Was it running rough before it died? Have you tried doing anything to it so far and it so what? Plus you may get more help if you posted this in the GC section and not the XJ. You also have to give it some time. I don't think that there is anyone just waiting for a question. Personally I wouldn't rush it. I would wait until some one that may know what it may be then just getting a lot of guesses. The more info you give the better answers you may get.

 

Sorry i guess im used to my diesel buddies on our forum. Theres always someone ready to help. I couldnt find the WJ section i thought it was in gc. But its an 02 GC 4.0l laredo. stallin out now not startin at all. I swapped out purge solenoids and it still didnt start up. Two evap system codes Large leak and Small leak. The CEL has been on for like a year. Been in the shop for a buncha stuff inc. spark plugs and it came back with the CEL on.. So i had it scanned and found a couple evap system codes. I guess my real question is Will a leak in the Evap system cause a no start condition?

 

Have you checked the fuel pressure with a gauge?

 

Not yet. Is that the test port right there on the fuel rail?

 

Yep, schrader valve. You can borrow a gauge from auto zone or the like to test it.
