OK... 97' str 6, 4x4. Not down shifting properly. Tried throttle valve adjustment. Have proper fluid levels. Stratching my head now... next ill try the filter, then the solenoid. Any other suggestions very welcome. Thx guys, I know you know more about this stuff than I do.

 

filter and fluid change is a good start... mine started feeling wierd last year it ended up being a catalytic converter going south robbing just enough power that it made it shift funny and feel as if the trans was on it way out... food for thought.. 98 xj I6 same stuff as you got

 

You would save some money by having a shop check it out instead of throwing parts at it.

 

Yeh I have bad experience with shops. With parts and hourly cost...I'd rather do the work myself, filter and solenoid aren't that costly.
