Got the lock ring off and the entire thing taken apart and put back together.. Except for i cut the new fuel hose a bit short and need to go to the auto parts store now... DOH!

Crossing my fingers.... BTW is the new pump suppose to be significatly smaller than the old... Slightly new design as well?

I got it replaced!! Finally got the stupid ring to go underneath all the lips... I feel like i just had a major ab workout from that... Hopefully the thing stays locked... :?

Unforunatly this did not fix my problem... Still does the same thing... AHHHHH... I am low on fuel though.. I will have to grab a 5gallon can and fuel it up tomorrow and test it again...

Any other suggestions as to my problem??

I will adjust my TPS tomorrow when i get a volt meter.

It will pretty much sit for a long time and idle... After i get in it and start giving it the gas it will go and then it will bog down... No power... and then it will die... I can rev it a bunch at idle just sitting there...

Make any sense?

sounds like a loose distributor to me, mine did the same thing, tightened it down and WALLA!!!! it was like magic. try that.

worse case scenario, i know its far fetched but possible check your oil for coolant or your coolant for oil, a blown head gasket can potentially cause the same issues as stated above, and it will not always cause the jeep to over heat, my GC back in the day before i totaled it blew the head gasket and i didn't even know it. It did loose a little power but that was about it. So check the oil and see whats going on in there. ALSO if it wasn't your pump i would say check the injectors and like someone else said check that distributor could be the issue. As far as injectors go if they are clogged your jeep will run like a cows butt. I too am having lag issues with my 87 but i have a exhaust leak i can't get to go away and my fuel pump sounds like it is sucking air constantly i can here it when i am standing behind the jeep, thanks to this write up i am going to check my lock ring and maybe get a new gasket for the pump. let us know if putting some gas in her helps, i know my 87 hates being anywhere near empty and will start stuttering and back firing, did it to me on the way home today.
