Default Help please

I have no idea where to start, but I have replaced the tps 4 times now, 2 from crown that went out instantly and made the jeep sputter and not shift right, the other 2 are BWD and a duralast. I have no idea what's going on with this jeep.

I''ve had the same with crown. Just stick to genuine oem TPS's. Find a Mopar one from the dealer or online, same applies to most if not all sensors relating to engine management/running

what is the jeep doing? that will help explain why you did all that stuff, and maybe someone can send you in the right direction. Please explain from the beginning what is happening. But as for TBS sensors I only go to this place for my sensors http://www.factorymopar.com/
you can go here http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/catalog.php and here http://www.factorymoparparts.com/

Well, we really don't either, without more details. Please tell the whole story.

If it truly is "eating" TPSs, you may have a wiring or computer issue. Which fault codes are stored?

Well it was like a chain reaction the CPS went out then the tps, so I replaced it first with a duralast, then a BWD ,then 2 crowns. It would chug along and not shift out of gear or bounce around from overdrive to 4th, each time it was replaced the problems would stop for about a week or less, then the cel came on for the tps again.

Carefully check the condition of all wiring associated with the TPS. If that checks out, try an OEM sensor.

Quick question before I add my input. When you replaced the TPSs did they actually test as being bad or were you replacing them just because it was acting that way and you had a TPS code?

I second the sticking to factory engine management units... I burnt through 3-4 TPS from crown in about 6 months... Finally called a few shops and they told me the same thing.. Changed it out and two years all good..

I took it to orielys to have the cel read and that's what they said, I was acting that way because I still have the original so ill put that back in and see if it makes any difference.
I never tested them just had the codes ran.

OK. Let me tell you a story. I kept having problems with my XJ. Would run fine then after a bit the check engine light would come on and it would start running rough and it would always say TPS code 24. I tried EVERYTHING to fix it. Changed TPSs a couple of times with no luck. This went on for years. Nobody could figure it out. To make a long story short it turned out the TPS and MAP sensor both have a purple and white wire coming off of them and they go into a harness and combine to become a single wire from that point on. Well it seems this connection had broken some how at the point after they joined so whenever the MAP sensor tried to send a signal to the computer it ended up going to the TPS instead and the TPS would sense this unexpected voltage coming in and think something was wrong and start adjusting the gas air mixture and you can follow what all that led to. I only figured this out after cutting all the loom apart and tracing every wire and seeing where they went. Once I cut the wires and soldered them together correctly the problem went away and has never returned.

I'm not saying this is your exact problem but just showing how you need to think "outside the box" for this kind of unexplainable problem.

Yeah I was afraid of having to do wire tracing because they get so brittle through the years. I will do this today and see what I can find or what breaks while I'm doing it. Thanks guys
