so i sprayed down my engine bay after mudding and cranked it up no problems, reversed it maybe 10 ft shut it down and tried to start it a hr later, no go. so i jumped it, jumped off i drove to the store and back no problems. went to leave for the store the next day and no start again. so i cleaned all my firewall ground and battery terminals and jumped it off again worked great for 2 days then today it was having troubles shifting into overdrive, so i cleaned my tps seems to have fixed that but now it wont start again and it will jump off but once i shut it down, there is no juice to the battery at all and i just replaced my alternator a few months ago

its dark now so ill take a look at it tomorrow when i get off work but im thinking its the grounds and im going to have the battery tested, other than that what do you guys suggest?

 

seems like you're not sending a charge to your battery when it's running. so i would start with your alternator. even tho you said it's new.

 

also clean up the connections at the battery, sometimes the terminals glaze over between the battery post and the inside of the battery terminal clamp, making for a weak connection and resulting in under charging even when an alternator is working.

 

X2 on the alternator. Mud is the alternator's worst enemy because it's located on the bottom of the motor. Mud gets in there and will kill it, that's why mine went out on me

 

Had the alternator tested and it was bad, replaced it but still having the same problem except the battery light comes on now. Could it be the battery went bad to? Its pretty old thanks for any help

 

yup, a bad alternator can kill a good battery.

Just dealt with the same thing. Then I did the Keep It Simple Stup*d approach and thought.....if it starts fine with good power to the cables (when jumping), and the battery is good, then I must be loosing connection between the battery and cables. Took them off the posts, cleaned 'em up with a round file and.......walla! Winner, winner, chicken dinner. Starts every time.
