Help me understand
So I have a 1988 Jeep Cherokee with the renix system there is a switch under the dash aftermarket that has a wire running into the wire that goes to the throttle position sensor and another sensor on top of the intake manifold this Jeep had a fried computer when I got it and so I replace the computer and drove a little bit then I noticed that switch and decided to flip it to see what happened and it immediately started running terrible and wouldn't run any better no matter what I did so I removed the computer and took it apart and it was fried in the same place the original one was I am wondering what that wire could have ever been for it is a 12 volt switch

Well, I would say about the best thing you could do is remove the switch completely from your jeep and forget about it. Make sure the rest of the wires are connected back together the way they're supposed to be. Someone may have installed it for a stupid reason... All I can think of is maybe to pass emissions, but that may be way off. Its all I can think of as to why someone would install a switch to the TPS and the air intake, which I'm guessing is the intake temp sensor..... But it still doesnt make sense as to why they would put it in if all it does is make the engine run crappy. Maybe there used to be other components that went with it and they are no longer in the jeep, so having only half of the pieces may be what causes it to fry the computer.
Maybe an old owner just put it in there the be an a$$hole to whoever owned the jeep after them....
But in the end, I have no clue whats going on....
