Default HELP--I'm being beaten by a distributor

Please, someone help. I blew the RMS in my 98 XJ. While I've got the pan down I decided to change out the oil pump and replace the oil filter adapter o-ring. Here is the problem, I can't get the danged distributor off so I can prime the pump. Engine is at TDC, distributor/cap are marked. I just can't get the little holder plate bolt to break free. I've tried a 1/2 crows foot and even bent the box end of a wrench so I can get on it, no luck. So, does anyone know a trick to get it off and if not, how bad is it for my engine to just pull all six plugs and run the starter until oil comes out of the oil filter adapter (filter removed)?

Lubricating oil. Lots of it.

Man I love CA. That bolt on the retaining clip came out with no struggle at all for me

Good idea, I've already let rip the PB Blaster with no luck. Anyone else know a trick for this? Everything I've read says it should be as easy as I thought it was going to be.

Yeah. Unplug your CPS. Crank the engine for less than a minute and you'll see pressure on the gauge. Plug CPS back in. Start engine.

Lets you spin the engine without starting it. Without a signal from the CPS the injectors and coil don't get energized.

Actually, it's a test to find out if you know where the CPS connector is.

Yeah. The starter spins the flexplate, which spins the crankshaft which spins the camshaft which turns the oil pump. Woohoo, it's frickin' primed!!

Plug the CPS back in and fire it off.
