yeah dont bash rocks i dented mine and the tank and its a pain in the **** on ly getting about 10 gallons of gas at fillup.

 

The factory tow package came with skids a hitch and 3.73 gears. Mine has front tow hooks with the big brackets holding them on. So I think that factory also. Now about your gears do you have an auto or manual?

 

I thought the tow pack came with a Dana 44 rear or am i wrong about that?

 

Offroad package. Its a locking rear diff! Out of the factory. I know because I left two pretty black marks on the road. All hope aint lost.

Found 2 tags on the rear diff. One says what it needs for fluid and the other one is long and the numbers are hard to read.

 

5 speed. Heck yeah. That means no tow package, sorry. And a open diff can spin both tires if you get them spinning fast enough. Nothing like wasting old tires.

Sounds like it could be limited slip. I dont know to much about dana 35's so someone else will have to chime in for that one.

 

jack up the rear tires so they are off the ground. Then turn one tire buy hand while looking at the other one, if the turn the same direction then you have a limited slip, if they turn opposite direction then you don't.
If you have a 5 speed then you 3.07:1 gears.

 

Yup its a posi. Its only 3.07? I cant read the rear tag and their isnt one on the front..

 

All 5 speeds come with 3.07's.

 

email jeep through their website and request a build sheet or you can go to the dealer and they can print one off for you, you will need your vin number. This will tell you all the stock stuff on your jeep.

 

In 87 or 88 the factory tow package came with a D44. All otheres came with the 8.25. Mine has the factory locker in it. Its called the trac loc or something like that. I heard they are just trash lockers. lol O and 88 chief They beat me to it. Ya the autos came with 3.55 gears and the 5 speed came with 3.07. Now mine came with 3.73 w/ tow package. But the 4 bangers came with 4.10 gears!!!!!!!

 

The 8.25 didn't come around till 1991. Prior to 91 it was either the dana 35 or dana 44.
