Help....can't get console off over auto shifter handle?
Would someone know how to get the console out of my 1996 xj cherokee...Can't get the plastic shifter plate over my auto shifter handle?
I don't want to brake the plastic plate...but hole in plate, to small for AUTO handle?
Also ...where does one get shifter ID (for Auto trans)...the area that lets you know what gear to shift into....mine has all but faded away.
Any help would be much appreciated....
Thanks Dave in San Diego dlcody@***.net

The local junkyard is probly the best place to find the shifter ID. as far as the handle oowhtra is right just grab it real good and pull straight up, it will come off.

Just make sure you put the tranny into neutral or drive before you do so, otherwise you'll bash your hand on the dash. Also, do not do this while standing over the handle. Bad things will happen.
