ok, so the deal is that my IAT (air temp sensor) which is located on the intake manifold seems to be not working. i tested the wires and i'm not getting any electrical current through them, however my jeep seems to run just fine anyways. now i know this sensor is very important and regulates the air/fuel mixture, so how do i test it? p.s. i'm also hooking up a performance chip to it so i NEED to make sure it's working right. please help!!!!!!!!

 

Get a manual if you are going to be working on your Jeep. Factory service manuals are best, Chiltons and Haynes are just okay, but are generic in some instances and have been known to have a few errors. Should tell you how to test your sensors in those manuals.

Skip the chip. Search this forum and all other XJ forums and you will see that they are of little or no benefit.

 

TEST PROCEDURE

1. Disconnect the wire harness connector from the sensor.
2. Test the resistance of the sensor with a input impedance (digital) volt-ohmmeter.
