94 sport auto trans issues
Hello! I'm new to the forum and im having issues with my auto trans. Anyway it's a 1994 4.0l sport, 181,000miles. Under normal driving conditions it shifts fine no issues at all, under heavy throttle it shifts hard into 2nd, then it will rev up to about 4000rpm and the power falls on it's face, and it stays like that until I let off the throttle, then it will do the same in 3rd going into 4th.
Any suggestions? I haven't checked the fluid level yet, should I flush it? Use treatments? Adjust the kickdown cable? I don't know. Any help would be appreciated.

1. Check fluid level and condition. Always the first thing to do and should be done periodically as well. Hot engine/tranny, level ground. Fluid should be red, not brown. Fluid should NOT smell burnt!
2- Adjust kickdown cable as mentioned
3-TEST your throttle position sensor. This sensor is directly involved with shifting characteristics of your transmission. You will need a manual (analog best) and a manual with the procedure. Really important to verify this sensor early in the troubleshooting process.
Good luck and let us know what you find!
