Heating problem need help
Aight guys and girls I have a 99 XJ just replaced the thermostat with a new 180F and no heat at all actually less heat than the 160F that came out of it only time I get heat is if I'm pulling a load behind me. Any ideas answers or comments please help a fellow Cherokee lover out

Does engine actually reach 180 or is it running cold? If the engine is reaching 180, the heater core may be partially blocked or clogged. Feel the heater hoses after the truck comes up to temperature with the heat on hi. Both hoses should feel the same temperature. If the return hose is cold, then the heater core needs replacement or you can try flushing it

Have to say, flushing my heater core a couple of times and installing the Mopar thermostat made the biggest difference. Now rock steady at 210 after coming up to temp. I so hated paying that dealer price tag but long term, well worth the extra $18.00 dollars.

Thanks guys I figured it would be something along the lines of flushing the heater core I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something else I would be missing I'm gonna try it tomorrow and see how she does

Yeah, watch out for after market t-stats. I initially put in an oreilly 195* failsafe. It failed into the open position about a week later, my Jeep never got up to 150* with an open t-stat.
Next I put in a Stant Super 195*, now the Jeep never gets above 180* in the winter.
I have a Mopar ready to put in now. I need to flush the heater core again too, since even at 180* I should be getting *some* heat, but I don't really get any.
