Default Heater temp

Hey guys Im back I finally bought another cherokee its a 1988 I6 5speed 153,xxx miles, its all stock its pretty nice but the heater doesnt put much heat out and after doing some searching I think my engine temp is not right on the gauge it says 150ish. Im not to sure where to start some help would be nice.

Drain coolant, take hose off housing, remove housing, check if t-stat is stuck open

Google 'changing thermostat jeep cherokee', I bet interesting things will come up.

Luckily a thermostat is easy to change and cheap if that's what it is. They are only like 10$ or less. That said, verify it is stuck open. It's happened to me and it will cause the heater to suck since the coolant never really gets hot enough to heat up your heater core.

Make sure there's a thermostat in it too... someone might have had overheating problems and just scrapped it all together. Not a good idea.

That is true about the thermostat not being there ill work on it soon.

It was the thermostat i replaced it and now it warms up and my heater blows warmer air. Thanks to everyone who helped
