Default heat soak and no crank

Hey guys I recently found out I have some heat soak issues. Whenever I turn it off after driving a while she wont crank up, even with starting fluid. Usually if she sits for a few days she'll crank right up. Anyone know how to get her cranked? I have fuel and spark. Any input welcome

Try unplugging and then plugging the CPS back up. If that doesnt helpay be time to replace it. Common issue with the XJ's.

Are you sure that you have high enough pressure at the fuel rail. Also make sure that you have a nice blue spark.

Well I have enough fuel pressure but auto zone was the one who said I have spark. Any easy ways to test for a spark?

Grab an old spark plug (or unscrew one if you have to). Plug it back into the wire and lay it on something grounded where you can see it. Crank engine & watch the plug for spark.

Always post the year/engine as there are significant differences along the way.

Question for you. Does the engine ever STALL or DIE while you are driving it? Or is it just that it won't start AFTER you turn the engine off? Knowing the answer to this question can help isolate the problem.

If it never dies while driving but just won't start after turning it off, the camshaft position sensor is suspect. If the cam sensor is lost while the engine is running, it continues to use the old cam sensor values and the engine runs fine. But when the engine is turned off, it won't restart.

Make sure we are talking about the same part... CAMshaft sensor or CRANK position sensor...i see these two get confused all the time..yeah knowing the year of vehicle would help
