Default Heat Problem

My heater blows out cold air. My temp gauge says its at 210. I have flushed out the radiator and heater core and also changed the thermostat. Can anyone help me?

Make sure you check your coolant level, low coolant can cause this condition

Run your Jeep to normal operating temp. Then check the hoses to the heater core. The both should be approx the same temp. Your heater core may still be filled with crud. Just because water is flowing through it doesn't mean it still not coated full of crud. You said you flushed the heater core. But did you flush it in both directions?

Any leaks on the heater core hoses? Or in the heater core itself?

I haven't flushed it in both directions. There is no leak. I've been watching tons of different videos on Youtube of people putting different chemicals in like bleach, CLR, oven cleaner, and some type of acid. I was wondering if any of you have tried it or not and if I should do it.

FWIW, the CLR website says "do not use in a automotive cooling system". If both heater hoses are hot, the temp selector (behind/under the dash) may not be working correctly.

You do have to be careful on what chemicals you use. You can cause more damage. Especially if you don't clear it out of the system. Your best bet is to use radiator flush and make sure to flush it in both directions to get as much of the crud out of it. Just remember, If you have no leaks now and you use something that is to strong you can end up with a lot of leaks.

This is my recent thread on a similar subject.

https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/blo...ot-hot-149818/

First check the two hoses are warm, that means coolant is flowing through.
Some have a valve or something but mine (2000) doesn't. If yours has the valve it could be that. bypass it.

To flush the core you need good pressure on your hose, if you don't go somewhere that does. I don't as our water comes off the hill. I used a booster pump that I flush my boat engine with.
Make sure you go one way then the other and dry it out in between by blowing all the water out by mouth or a compressor.
I did mine about 20 times before the water ran clean and the air is now hot not luke warm like before. It also heats up much quicker which will be a huge bonus when it gets cold.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.
