Hey everybody, can anybody tell me what this tab is for on the old switch? It's on the left, the new one's on the right and it has two tabs that don't match the old one that you can see better in the third pic.

Is that just a grounding wire with a couple different ways to plug it on with the new switch?

 

The ones riveted to the body would be the same. Not sure what the extra one that appears to be connected inside does. I don't think that tab was hooked up on the old one, so don't need to worry about them at all.

 

I ran into same question regarding the replacement headlight switch version for my 94 XJ. I was almost fooled when the new switch failed to illuminate the marker and dome lights. But I found the 15A fuse had been blown for these as a result of the original switch fail. Replaced fuse and switch. Saul Goodman
