Just replaced the headlight switch on my 96 xj because it wouldnt switch on the interior lights but a new switch didnt fix the problem any ideas as to what could cause this, all the lights do work and turn on when the doors open.

The connector to the switch is clean and no signs of overheating or anything, as for fuses, which fuse would it be, I do not have the owners manual. Everything about the headlight switch works, it just won't turn on the interior lights.

Well I replaced all the fuses just to be sure and the switch still does not turn on the interior lights, does anyone have any ideas, or had a similar problem?

Well looking at the diagrams now.Do your visor vanity lights work?? Map /Reading lights work with the overhead switch...
Second check does ur overhead compass clock defogger switch transfer case instrument cluster ashtray lights work...
The org/blk wire comming out of the head lamp switch feeds dash lights dimmer.
There should be a feed off ur headlight circut to the interior lights but im not finding the link to it anywhere.....
hope this helps....

Yea all the interior lights work, map lights turn on when you switch them on, visor lights etc.. I am stumped, and I do not have a wiring diagram.
