My MJ's AutoPal E-Code H4 headlight housings in the MJ have started flaking and rusting out inside. Anyone running LED housings they like and would recommend?
I want a nice e-code sharp cutoff like the AutoPals had, and to avoid the ebay junk that throws light everywhere but the road. I'm not averse to staying with H4 bulbs either, as I have a relay setup already and a handful of spare 55/80 bulbs.

One of my XJ's came with Autopals - & they're plastic!
Another has Hellas - to replace the OEM Cibies, which were excellent, but rotted.
LRD's with a sharp cutoff might be hard to find, for road use I'd stick with H4's, especially with the upgrades you already have.

Aren't they real expensive?
I remember seeing that they might not work well in snow because they don't generate enough heat to keep the snow melting off the lenses.

I read OPs post and thought he was ready to throw down a small fortune for some good headlights.

The TruckLites are way out of my budget. I think I'm going to stick with H4 halogens because I do get snow, sometime pretty heavy. I can't find the same e-code glass AutoPals - I can find dot with glass fronts, or euro but with polycarbonate faces. Might just spend the hundred or so and get the Hellas.

Looks like they're still available: https://nokyausa.com/?page_id=5237
Interestingly, they're conventional lenses, whereas min were "crystal" (sort of budget Rampage) which might explain the plastic housings.

I found those on eBay too. They're the DOT versions, and I was hoping to find the e-code ECE version with the much better horizontal cutoff. Could be they got hammered for selling non-DOT compliant. A couple of LED bulb makers were forced to give refunds for selling non-compliance bulbs retrofit kits.
I might just splurge and get the Hellas.

You could try a European e-Bay (or even Canadian?) site
or, get them direct from India, where they'd be cheap as chips (& I'm pretty sure everything's free shipping on Vicky)
Are the Hella's DOT compliant?
Funny thing is even when all ours had to be "E-marked" we accepted DOT compliance as an exception. Not often our administration is more liberal.

If you're looking for e-code Hellas, check out Susquehanna Motorsports (www.rallylights.com). They've got all that stuff plus wiring harnesses and all kinds of H4 bulbs. Best of all, you can actually talk with someone who's knowledgeable.
