head warpage

what size feeler gauge do i use to see if my head is warped? thx

They slide under until .018

so its warped .018

you take a stright edge and put it corner to corner and run feeler gauges underneith until they dont fit, that's how much it's warped. I don't know what spec is, but your head isn't flat.

You can go sideways also. (sometimes that "bridge" between cyl's is slumped). IIRC 4 to 6 thou. is more like it. Too nice a day to dig into The fsm at the moment!

6 thou is the max allowable, with something like 2 thou variance throughout

It only dips between the cylinders in the middle but im getting it shaved anyway

Likely necessary in this case. If you need to pull the valves to clean it you are putting in new valve stem seals. I might put some kerocene or diesel in the ports with it on edge and look for even seepage first thing. (with the chamber side dry). If it's just a little even seepage I might just lap the valves with compound and fuel line attached to a reversible drill. If one is pissen...it get's more complicated!

Seals should be good as the valves. I did all that 7k miles ago lol
