I redid my headliner too. Basically I removed all of the headliner fabric, then I scraped the remaining foam padding off. After that was all done and I was left with a clean headliner board, I got some black headliner fabric from JoAnn Fabric for about $25.
The headliner fabric comes with a nice thick foam backing too.

Once I was back home, I got the headliner fabric and layed it over the headliner board. I trimmed it up to fit and sprayed 3M Super 77 adhesive on both the fabric and the headliner board. I applied pressure around the fabric until it bonded and then it was all done.

I did add a ZJ overhead console which I had to cut a hole in the headliner for, but that's a different topic.

I'm in the process of re-doing mine right now. Materials cost me about $100 but it's not a difficult job. 99% of the foam came off very easily with a stiff-bristle brush, and the last 1% just needed a little elbow grease. I need to iron the fabric before spraying each surface and applying it. We have storms coming this afternoon, so I might wait to do that another day so that I don't rush it.

That's the cost of all of the materials + shipping from WLS Headliners.

There are some guys on here or on NAXJA that took the headliner off and cleaned off all the old glue and foam and then sprayed it with paint or hurculiner. Some actually turned out pretty well others not so much. Kind of takes that last step out, and you never have to worry about it sagging again.

Just a thought.

My friend did that with his. It is a permanent fix. His only gripe is that when it rains it sounds like you're sitting under a tin roof...he sprayed it though. Maybe the roll on is better

I heard the dupilcolor bed armor is better than the herculiner. I have the bed armor on my jeep but on the outside. It looks nice and clean. My dad is going to try the roller on his 81 j10 well see if there is a difference

I hate to say it, but you got ripped off. This should only cost $50 tops (even if you were to use suede material).

You said you dynomatted it? How much did that cost and how hard was it? Cuz I had to take my headliner out cuz the fiberglass board was flaking and falling on the dash everytime I opened the windows or shut doors. So I can't do a new headliner unless I get a new board. And I wanna insulate it.

My son and I just did his last Sunday $15.00 for 2&2/3rd yards gray headliner fabric and two $10.00 cans of Permatex headliner adhesive.
The fabric was miss marked in price we got it for $5/yrd instead of $12/yrd.
Just a word to the wise. I would not use 3M Super77, do a little research an you wil find that Super77 will release under higher temps.

Time is money. I live nowhere near a fabric store (am in a pretty rural area) and the gas alone would probably make it a breakeven proposition.

I'm satisfied with what I paid, so why worry about it?
