Head Gasket
if you were to eliminate the cats, the readings the o2 sensors would get would be out of whack, so im gonna guess no
im sure this is dealt with in the thread i linked and at least hinted at in my quote 'custom down pipe'
so yeah factor all that cost vs just a new head, dunno what will be quicker or cheaper

Just back from Buying a head in DC. I found 2 Cracks that I did not see when I bought the Head. Will this Cause any problems if I install it on my Motor??? I am just a Dumb Guitar Player. I am trying to learn some stuff Here.
If that is a factory 0331 head, I would not install it. Cracks or no cracks, you want to fix it with something better. TUPY or Clearwater would be the way I would suggest you go.

Its junk. You dont know how deep those cracks go, so throw it away. Like said, Clearwater or TUPY would be the way to go. If i needed one, and came across a factory 0331 head that wasnt cracked, i would still go with Clearwater or TUPY. I dont trust those factory heads any more than i can throw them.

I just got the Head Gasket Kit today .It is a FELPRO , the Headgasket is Wild .It is a 4 Ply thing it looks like it is INDESTRUCTABLE . I think that Brown water and Muk that was in the Cooling System was BARS leak or some junk to keep the Head Gasket together for a while.

I got another 0331 Head that is in the Shop getting Pressior tested and resurfaced .
You're not a quick learner are you? You bought a 2000 despite being told they were prone to cracked heads. It looks like the previous owner dumped a crapload of Bars Leak in there to hide a cracked head long enough to screw you. Then you bought another 331 head that turned out to be cracked even worse than yours. Now you just bought another 331 head and are paying a shop to resurface it?
More info at https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/3-c...s-cons-258702/
Apparently he installed that 0331 head, sold it, and it overheated and cracked the head on the new owner.
