Angry Head is cracked

Ok I leave for college Thursday and my Xj just cracked its head like a lil B!tch. just got a call from my head guy and he says it is cracked for sure. Does anyone know where i can get a Head on the cheap? If anyone has one they are willing to sell thats not cracked that would be awesome. Cast number 0331. I live in central Illinois.

i would not buy a used head without checking casting to see if its a 2002 or newer... 00 and 01 are the problem years for the 0331, they fixed the flaw after that.
Best bet although not cheap is a new replacement upgraded 0331 casting from alabama cylinder hear or clearwater cylinder head on ebay. $475 both with good warranty and you know what your getting.

I don't have the money to go with clear water or Alabama or else i would im gonna get a rebuilt from cylinder heads international. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ht_3490wt_1165

If i didnt have to leave for college Thursday i would have more money to drop into this XJ to get the better head, Oh well. i will have a job up there so i will be able to get a better one if this 300.00 s!ts out.

177,xxx miles, I was driving to work and the gauge went to the red line mark really quick and then a couple seconds later it maxed the gauge out. i thought it was the gauge messing up. Guess not.

That head is prone to cracking, so 177k miles isn't all that bad. Good luck with the job.
