Default Hazards in a 97 Cherokee

My turn signals work fine but when I turn my hazards on only the left one flashes. I replaced the flasher (apparently the 97 only has one for both the hazards and turn signals) but the problem persists. Any ideas?

You have a bunch of dust and crud in the hazard switch. Move the switch back and forth a few times and see if that takes care of it.

XJs past the Renix era use a 5-prong relay-style combo flasher. Us old school guys have the 2-prong thermal flashers. Welp... not me anymore... I converted mine for LEDs. I've got a write-up on that pending approval lol.

It's a 5 prong relay like onlyinajeep726 said. Bustedbacks idea did the trick although I don't think it was dust. I switched it back and forth several times and didn't fix the issue but I noticed one time that when I pushed it forward a little bit they both flashed so I pushed a little harder until it stayed on and now it works every time. Not sure how that thing is assembled but my guess would be that it was a contact problem. Works now, thanks everyone!

I don't know. All I can say is that my '96 XJ Country has a 5-prong all-in-one flasher whereas my '88 XJ is two separate 2-prong thermal flashers... Who knows though, Chrysler went through and changed so much in those years, it's hard to tell lol.

No kidding freegdr. I just replaced my shocks and leaf springs last week and ran into the typical sheared bolts on the rear shocks and front bolt seizing in the front leaf spring bushing. Many hours wasted cutting out the old leaf springs and drilling for new bolts for the shocks. I think I earned an easy one this week lol!

My 97 has the same problem. If you turn the 4 ways on then turn the right turn signal on they will all flash. Atleast that's how mine is haha

Its your flasher. The hazards will stop working again and soon your turn signals will to. Advanced has the flasher for $15.

I replaced the flasher already and it didn't fix the issue, the switch appears to have been the source of the problem this time.
