Default Hazard a Guess?

98 XJ 4.0 ATX. My turn signals work fine, althought the flasher frequency is kinda fast. But I have no hazard signals at all. Flip the switch on top of the steering wheel and nothing. Nada. So I order a new flasher relay. Supposed to be a combination relay for turn signals and flashers. I wrestle my way under the knee panel and finally find it and pull it down. Dusty old crummy sticky mess. Gotta be the issue, right? I replace it with my new flasher.

Nada. No turn signals, no hazards. Turn the turn signals ON on either side and the light comes on steady, no blinkie. Push the hazard switch and nothing.

Is this some "special" relay that is not your nominal 12V 40/60A relay? I got my replacement thru Rock Auto, although it is listed as a "universal" relay.

Ideas?

Sounds to me like some seriously corroded connections or maybe messed up wires since it happened after you replaced the relay. Had that happen ugh my horn when I took the relay out.

if you took a known working flasher out turn signal wise and the new one has no signals you got a bad flasher sounds like to me return it ,putting the old one back in did the turns work again?
