okay, i searched but couldnt find on a quick how to remove my hatch. like with the electrical and everything. i know how to remove the main hatch. but what do i do about the wiring. went doorless. but only makes sense to go hatchless to save MPG

 

Yeah, I've been thinking about doing this myself. I think the solution with the wiring is going to be quick-releases of one kind or another; that said, some of the wiring going back there isn't necessarily stuff you /have/ to have. Figure out what you /need,/ and then tuck the rest away.

Do you have any ideas about how to get the hatch on and off, in terms of logistics? They're not light, and they'll have to be lined up pretty close to start getting the hinges screwed back in; are you just going to go with a bunch of helpers, or have you thought about making a stand of some kind? I've got a garage, so I'm thinking maybe a hoist? It's my daily driver, and it rains and snows where I live, so it's got to be pretty convenient.

If you run without a rear hatch all the road grunge that ends up on your rear window will end up inside the vehicle, just a thought.

 

Pretty sure this could be done somewhat easily.. U would have to make quick disconnects for everything. The washer hose might be somewhat of a challenge to make as a quick disconnect. But i think doorless isnt quite doorless if u have a hatch on lol itl look pretty sicky IMO. Shouldnt be hard to line up the hinges seeing as the washers im sure marked their locations. Definitely do a write up if this gets done!

 

Mud flaps work wonders

 

Yes that will make it better, but it will still make the inside filthy. It's all about aerodynamics. The problem is the massive low pressure area right behind the vehicle. Any water or dust or mud near that low pressure area will get sucked right into the vehicle.
