If you jack up your rig by the uni-body and let the axle hang is there enough room to soap up a bump stop and pound it between the springs with a mallet?

I know that's pretty redneck but that's how I roll.

I just ordered my extended bumpstops from rustys. I was wandering the same thing, I was just going to disco my front sway bar and let the axle hang and try that first. Keep us updated

Just put mine in lift the front and use a BIG screw driver to pry the spring a bit the will slide in no prob. I think on 96 and older Xj's they are bolt in may be a problem

that is not possible
you have to take out the springs.
i installed some daystar bumpstops 2 months ago and try that and the thing with the screw driver and nothing happens.

Default Bump stop

I noticed on my jeep that I was missing a bumpstop, so I went to the other side and pulled the other one out thru the spring with the jeep jacked up...I imagine the new one will go in with some effort. I got a new set but I have to trim them down to fit...apparently the 94 cherokee had a larger diameter bumpstop than my 91.

Try again. It's very possible. Ask me how I know. This is what I did to get my extended bumpstops (from Daystar at that) in.
1. Disconnect the front sway bar
2. Flex the front axle out as much as you can (jack and stands/hi-lift/big rock/etc)
3. Throw some vasoline on the bumpstops
4. Wedge one into the spring that's fully extended
5. Use a mallet to tap it inside the coils
6. Put in place in the bumpstop mount
7. Use a pry bar to push it in the rest of the way
8. Repeat for the other side

Took me maybe 20 minutes to do mine this way. Worked very well.

When my mechanic did my lift, he forgot to put my bumpstop on one side in the front. Well, instead of taking the spring out, he managed to slip the bumpstop threw the spring. It's still there 6 months later.
