Default Harmonic balancer bolt size?

Can anyone tell me the bolt size and thread pitch for the harmonic balancer to the crankshaft bolt on an 87 Cherokee?

According to this ebay listing (https://www.ebay.com/itm/334356869219)

"Bolt is 1/2-20 (fine threads) uses a 3/4" wrench and is 1 1/4" long (threaded portion)"

I'm not suggesting you buy it nor am I affiliated with the seller. Just pointing to the source of the info.

You probably want a longer bolt, nut and washer to install the new balancer though. The original bolt is too short to "pull" the balancer on.

1/2-20 with 3/4 head is what's on there. Need a longer one to pull the balancer on.

Thanks all! I used a 2 inch long bolt and just kept backing the bolt out and adding washers as I went. It is all back together with the factory bolt now. Motor mounts are next.

genuine question here, but are you saying there is not 15mm and 18mm head size on XJ ?

I associate those head sizes with metric, but havent checked the markings on the bolts to check, or threads with a die or gauge

Its always confused me, as there appears to be a mixture of metric and imperial head sizes

(18mm is not 11/16" = 17mm).

Plenty of metric elsewhere, just not directly on or in the engine.

No chit here, I'm just annoyed that I can never find that 18mm when I need it. I still can't find that damn 10mm either. Them things have wings, I tell ya!
