Hard start
Ok ive been fighting this problem for a while and was told by a few friend I should try here so here we go.. 98 Cherokee 4.0 for some reason first thing in the mourning when you try to start the engine just turns over not even trying to start.. Now second or third time it will start.. I tried the prime the pump by turn the key off and on many times this does not effect it one way or another.. Fuel pressure is around 28ish... now theres fuel present. Now that initial time trying to start theres also a spark so fuel and spark is present. I changed the crank sensor didn't change anything.. So its almost to me like something isn't telling the injectors to open or grounding the circuit maybe ECM or ign switch? Any other ideas or am I on the right path ?

The fuel pressure spec for your 98 XJ is 49 psi, plus or minus 5 psi.
You need approximately 49 psi to start the engine and keep it running. If you have 28 psi, you have a fuel delivery problem.
I'd be performing some fuel pressure troubleshooting using the factory service manual as your guide.
