are you against the the idea of using a TH350 yoke and doing it yourself? All you have to do is cut a few inchs off the T/C output shaft and the yoke and drill and tap the center and your done. you could prob do it for 10-20 bucks if you got the yoke at the JY.

Not to hi-jack, but does that work on a 242 as well?? Just curious, honestly I'd rather do it that way if it does, then spend the money on useless stuff!! LOL!!

iron rock offroad sells an awesome kit that comes with everything (including bits and a tap) for $100...someone just bought one on here a few days ago...then you just need to get a front driveshaft from an auto xj...i got mine for 20 bucks at the local pick and pull...or you can buy a refurb one from iron rock for another 99 bucks.

why do a hack and tap for that money when you can get a full sye for 75 bucks more at PORC?

Rubion express makes a good sye kit for the 231 but its a lot harder to find a sye for a 242... there is one out there but most people go with a hack n tap for the 242. i have one for mine but i think i am going to look into the proper SYE for the 242. i dont like the forces on the end bearing with the hack n tap system tho it hasnt caused a prob yet.

here is some instructions on a hack n tap for a 242. http://polytropia.com/cherokee/sye

i think you're talking about two different things. a constant velocity joint on an axle shaft is weaker than a u joint. but the discussion is about cv drive shafts w/ fixed yokes, replacing a slip yoke

cv axle shaft http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...%3D2%26hl%3Den

cv driveshaft next to regular drive shaft http://www.alljeep.com/tech/install/...ll/resye.3.jpg
