Is this all you had to offer to the thread?? If so, why bother...really?? Every Jeep I've seen has a dual cardan, or CV, as some people referr to them on the front drive line. So they are junk?? Chances are your Jeep has one. In reality, a CV, is a constant velosity joint. The joints that are used in half shafts in the front wheel drive car world. They seem to work quite nicely there as well. IDK, maybe they are not as "crappy" as you think they are??

and as far as drive shafts, why is it ideal to use one in the rear after lifting if they're so crappy

There are some companies that have used the front axle half shafts type of cv joints on the drive shafts instead of a normal u-joint. Now I think this type of drive shaft, is not desirable, but I really don't know. I know that while watching Powerblock, I've seen them eliminate that style of drive shafts on vehicles, matter of fact, I think it was on a TJ or it could have been on Stacey David's Gears in a new JK. Don't remember which though.

yes, this is true. some grand cherokee and i think even some later xj's had cv axle shafts in front. it is common to swap those out. that is what i was talking about. there's a difference from cv axle shaft, and cv drive shaft

Yep, my 1995 ZJ had CVs instead of front u-joints. They were used hard, and held up throughout it's life with me!!

Yes there is and there is also a difference between cv drive shaft and double cardan joint, also commonly called a cv joint, drive shaft. Very confusing without pics.

That's good COSXJFAN. I've never had any experience with them. I've just seen them on tv and they don't talk highly of them.

Nope. Sorry I'm fresh out. My pics are in my head and that's not anywhere safe for most people.

i'd like to see the difference. the double cardon joint is betweent the two u joints at the t case side of the d shaft immediately after the u joint that is held on the yoke. even with a quick search, double cardon and cv drive shafts are the same.

there is a newer style joint i saw something about, but can't remember what it was. it was on xtremem 4x4 though.

Ok, here you go, 3rd one from the top is a short new type cv drive shaft for the front or rear of a vehicle. The top one is a half shaft for an independent axle for the comparison.
