Default Hack n' Tap or an S.Y.E?

i am trying to price a 4.5"+ lift have not decided weather or not to go 3.5" rubicon express lift kit w/ AAL then a 2" coil spacers and matching 2" rear shackle's in the rear or the 4.5" rough country suspension lift kit w/ matching 2" coil spacers and 2" rear shackles as well....
i have heard a hack and tap kit get thrown around in a few places. but i know a S.Y.E is expensive, but money is very tight for me since i am going to college and racking in around 450 every two weeks... any info would help really and if you dont mind i would love to know the "lowest" CV drive shaft as well

any info would helpp!

if you go with the 3.5 and add 2" coil spacers and 2" shackles, the only problem with this set up is the lower control will be short and will rub more then usal.

and as for the SYE,, my first choice was the Hack n Tap, but after pricing all the peice(np231 RE HnT= 100$ + shipping...spicer adapter flange=70$) depending on where you from its almost cheaper to buy full SYE kit... i found one on ebay for 250$ with shipping made by rugged ridge

reason people go with the Hack n tap instead is to save on installation... HNT your dot have to pull the xfer case and pull it all apart... sye you do... in fact you pretty much rebuild the xfer case... HNT you do it yourself in the yard... i had 3.5in lift and 2in coil spacers on my ZJ and i think thats why i got real bad death wobble... damper fixed it but still... pulled the tires back towards the fire wall... rubbed alittle but ihad 33x12.50's... alittle trimming inside the wheel wells and it was fine...

4.5 most can stop it with a transfer case 1in drop (if there are vibes bad enough)... anything more you probly want a syi or something... anything less you should be fine unless your junks way out of balance or dented...

Im at 4.5 and have crazy vibs with the TC drop....I am super frustrated. It seems a lot of it is coming from the front DS r/t the pinion angle, but also in the rear. NO money for an sye right now either.....this sux!

you shouldnt have any vibes coming from the front shaft unless somethings wrong with it... a SYE on the back isnt going to fix the front... the fronts already SYE... 4.5n lift and 1in drop you should be fine anyway... unless something is bad... out of balance DS or something... find a buddy that will let you swap them out and see if that helps...

I went the sye route but if I had it to do over again I would have done this. AND I would have done the tera2lo kit http://jeepinoutfitters.com/scripts/...idproduct=1704
remember.. all this is money well spent and you only want to do it once, tare it down once, bum rides to the parts store and work once, and not get stuck out on the trail ever...
$ is an investment... is sucks when there isnt much to go around.. but it costs way more to do it twice..

good luck man.......

and the 2 low thing is nuts for a pice also... i would do the cable converion (like i did) on the D30... that allows for 2 low and gets rid of the problem child the vacuum locking setup... you can buy a no BS kit for $200 but i did mine myself for bout $20...

I actually should have done that. I just spent 800 on having my TC rebuilt when I could have got a new one with an sye for just a bit more.

Ok, first off, if you get a 4.5 RC lift (or the RE lift for that matter), it comes with extended shackles. If you throw coil spacers on that setup, you will have a mad prerunner stance. The best way to get that back end up a bit more would be to get some HDORE shackle relocation brackets. Still, if setup properly, those will only get you 3/4 to 1 inch.

Now, as far as your SYE dilemma goes, if I were you, I would just call up IRO and get their $240 HnT special and call it a day. Or if you are felling frisky, you could just drop the t-case and hope for the best.

Good luck man.
