Default Gurgling/Bubbling Coolant Resevoir?

Hey guys, just recently noticed a bubbling gurgling sound coming from my coolant reservoir after turning off the engine in my 2.5l xj. Started happening after my top radiator hose was loose and leaking fluid. I tightened it and started noticing the gurgling. Really worried heard people say its a blown head or cracked block or gasket. My car has no heat, but it doesn't over heat. And the coolant isn't leaking. Not sure what's going on any tips are greatly appreciated!

Hmmm. I wonder if 2000 model 2.5s crack their head like the 4.0s?

Are you using any coolant? Even a little?

On the other hand, it may just be getting rid of trapped air in the system. Give it a couple of days. If it still does it, let us know.

2001 they only made 4.0 XJs.

I have no idea if the 2000 XJs with a 2.5 are known to crack. That's actually a good question.

No coolant levels staying consistent. I wasn't sure maybe the thermostat is bad. Gonna change out the radiator cap just to see if Thats it. Hopefully not a cracked block. Its got just over 100k miles and I don't notice anything running different. Just the gurgling after I fixed the radiator hose. I was thinking of getting a full coolant flush to make sure all air is out and get fresh antifreeze in there. I'll keep in touch thanks.

I fail to see how a bad thermostat, even if it really is bad, would inject air into the system.

Not really sure, just trying to think of things other than a cracked block or head gasket haha

ANY engine can crack the head or warp/blow the gasket if you overheat it...

Any overheating recently?

Any Oil in the coolant?

Any coolant in the oil?

It could be as simple as a weak radiator cap. I would start by changing the cap and see if you have the same problem.

No overheating, coolant is fine isn't using up coolant. I'm doing the radiator cap to see if it works

That's a good, cheap place to start.
